The Australian team Sunswift from the University of New South Wales (Australia) broke a record that had stood for 26 years, creating a new sportscar Eve solar. We are talking about the mileage at a distance of 310 miles (500 km) without recharging the battery.
Sunswift managed to travel this distance on your electric car with an average speed of over 100 km/h the Previous record that was set up almost three decades ago, was 73 km/H.
It should be noted that in the Treasury of the Australian team Sunswift already have one world record — their previous prototype cars on solar energy, built in 2011, was able to accelerate to 88 km/H.
Car Eve is already the fifth prototype cars from the team, it can travel over 500 miles on a single charge, or about 800 kilometers, using the solar system provide additional energy during the drive (on the hood and the roof of the car are integrated solar panels).
In order to qualify for the record, the command during the test run did not use the system built-in solar panels, the entire run was done only on a charged battery, without the use of generated energy.
Eve was such a long way to show the world that electric cars can be a viable alternative to gasoline vehicles.
Some people are afraid to switch to environmentally friendly cars, believing that such vehicles can’t reach impressive speeds. But Sunswift Eve, the maximum speed of that which is 140 kilometers per hour, showing that the electrical energy can be used even in a sports car.
The cost of Eve at the moment big — auto, the body of which is made of carbon fiber and weighs 300 kg, worth nearly half a million dollars. But the team Sunswift is not going to stop, and announced the beginning of work on reducing the price of the car and adapt it for use in the city. Estimated release of a new version of Eve is planned for 2015.
